Background
Suzie has spent a lifetime serving with honor, integrity, and fidelity – this includes both serving her country and serving her clients.
A first-generation immigrant, Suzie grew up right here in Bloomfield, where her mother ran a successful veterinary practice during the day and served as a liaison for recently-arrived refugees at night. The steadfast work ethic and commitment to serving others she witnessed during her youth influenced her decision to join the United States Marine Corps upon graduation from The Ellis School.
Based at Camp LeJeune, she completed two tours in Afghanistan as part of a logistics combat element, providing heavy engineer support to combat troops. She was awarded the Good Conduct Medal as well as the Afghanistan Campaign Medal. Upon her honorable discharge, she attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science, and went on to graduate summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2012.
Suzie joined Sample Law Firm after spending two years clerking for Allegheny Court of Common Pleas Judge Patricia Leavenworth. She specializes in partnerships – both drafting partnership agreements and solving partnership disputes. Her approach is to become a subject-matter expert in each partnership, and gain an intimate understanding of the vision each partner has for their business, the obstacles they face, and the path they see for success. When mediating a dispute, she relies on her legal and military training to remain objective, identify and eliminate obstacles, and keep the mission moving forward.
She has worked with numerous successful local startups over the past seven years, including:
- ClimbTech
- Elemental
- Loquistix
- Northways
- WesternView
Suzie is passionate about supporting local veterans. She is the chair of the Allegheny County Veterans Law Division and organized the annual Wounded Warriors Adventure Race in Ohiopyle, PA.
